Townsville Grammar School is the only non-denominational, co-educational boarding school in North Queensland. Our boarding programme is led and managed by our Director of Boarding, Mr Chris Wilson (pictured right), assisted by House Parents and over 20 Residential Boarding and Tutor Staff.
At Townsville Grammar School we believe our core purpose in boarding is to nurture the students who have been placed in our care. We strive to make residential life a positive experience for all students by providing a care system that recognises the individual and provides a ‘family like’ environment based on trust, cooperation and open communication.
Our boarders are drawn from a wide national and international demographic with the majority from the rural west and north-west of Queensland. The boarding community of 150 boys and girls are an integral and important part of the School. They live on-campus for the 38 weeks of the School year.
Accommodation is provided in air-conditioned boarding houses with semi-private areas which incorporates both sleeping and study faciltiies. Evening studies are supervised by resident staff, while academic staff provide tuition on specific nights. Boarders also have access to the School's academic and sporting facilities outside of school hours. Boarders also enjoy an air-conditioned dining room with qualified catering staff preparing healthy and delicious meals on-site daily, as well as excellent care from Registered Nurses and Doctors in the School's Health Centre.
Townsville Grammar School offers liberal leave model. Boarders may be granted leave (with parental permission) on any weekend of the year. We believe that spending quality time with family and friends in a homely environment is healthy.
In tandem with the School's curricular and co-curricular activities, boarding at Townsville Grammar School is part of a total experience which contributes to our students' personal, physical, social, cultural and moral development.
