Chess is offered across both campuses, with students competing in in-house, local, regional and state competitions. Players of all abilities are welcome.
At the Annandale Campus, students are able to participate in weekly chess games and lessons, held one afternoon each week. Selected students compete in the three rounds of the Townsville district’s Gardiner Interschool Chess Competition as well as a unique local tri-school competition that is designed to develop player’s competition skills.
At the North Ward Campus, Chess Club members participate in a friendly and fun atmosphere during in-house matches each week. They also use this as an opportunity to coach each other and hone their skills in preparation for the Gardiner Interschool competitions. Students are invited to attend and not only learn an important game of strategy but also make new friends.
