The Black and Gold Supporters Group is an informal association of parents whose charter is to provide opportunities for social camaraderie within the School community while raising funds for the music and arts programmes. Members are drawn from both the junior and senior campuses. After a huge year in 2013, organizing the Rio Carnivale Ball and the Circus Spectacular Family Fun Night to celebrate the School’s 125th anniversary and raising over $20000 in the process, the Committee has settled back into its normal routine in 2014 - one major event per calendar year.
This year, by popular demand, we decided to host another Mother’s Day luncheon. With the theme “I Do, Take Two”, we sent out an invitation to all the mothers and grandmothers of the school to dust off their wedding gowns and give them another walk down the aisle, either by modeling it themselves or letting their daughter, granddaughter or one of our models take it out for a spin. The response was tremendous, with twenty-six gowns from as early as 1957 being brought forward for a second big day out.
