annoucnement-x announcement

Come to our Annandale Campus Opening Morning on Friday 26th May, 9am to 12noon.  See our classrooms, speak to our teachers and find out why Grammar is MORE than just a school!

Year 8

The students of Year 8 at Townsville Grammar School are under the care of Year Level Co-ordinator (YLC), Mrs Lizzii Watson whose primary role is the pastoral care of the students. She is ably supported by Form Teachers who meet weekly to discuss issues pertinent to the Year 8 cohort.

The students, teachers and YLC meet at the Year Level Assemblies, held on Thursdays, where students are informed and involved in topics relevant to Year 8.

During Term 3, all students attend camp at Camp Kanga on the Proserpine River. The theme of the camp is based on the television series, Survivor and allows students to extend their skills in physical, creative and intellectual challenges. The camp is entirely inclusive and seeks to involve all students in a co-operative way. The Year 8 camp begins the leadership process in preparation for electing the Middle School Leaders for the following year.

All students study the following Key Learning Areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • History
  • Geography
  • IT Foundations or Music
  • Science
  • Design and Technology
  • Art
  • Modern Languages (French, Japanese or Italian)
