Townsville Grammar School primary students have set their eyes on Brisbane following their success at the NQ Chess Competition.
On Wednesday, last week, students from Townsville Grammar School competed in the second round of the Competition. Competing in both individual and team events and our students returned triumphant.
In the Primary Individual standings, our students placed second and third (Isabella Baker, Madhava Vyas).
In the Primary Teams Competition, our students placed first, second and third (Isabella Baker, Dilumi Prematillake, Poppy Costello & Yumindi), (Alex Anthony, Brian Hayes, David Nugent & Maher Zulfiquer), (Ned Fairley, Ted Muller, Jacob Choi & Madhava Vyas).
In addition to their strong placement, our winning team of girls were recognized as the first all-girls team to win this competition. The organiser, Andrew Fitzpatrick, went on to suggest our winning team consider attending the Queensland Girls Chess Tournament held in Brisbane later in the year.
