The Seniors of 2016 have achieved very impressive OP and International Baccalaureate (IB) results, headlined by 21.8% gaining an OP 1-3 result compared with a State average of 11.43%. The depth of results, with a median OP7 and nearly 80% of students gaining an OP1-12, will enable the overwhelming majority of the group to achieve entry into their first preference courses at university.
Grammar is the only school in Townsville to offer the highly acclaimed International Baccalaureate Diploma course and the IB group achieved a world class pass rate of 100%, compared with Australia (94%), Asia Paciific - including Singapore (91.3%) and a Global average of 70%. Internationally, more than 1.3 million students, from 4580 schools across 150 countries study the externally examined IB curriculum.
The School congratulates all of our OP/IB students on their efforts and results from 2016. IB students Ashley Masing and Krishna Patel recently attended interviews in the UK at Cambridge and Oxford Universities respectively and keenly await news on their acceptance, along with their peers who have set their sights on attending universities in Townsville, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
The 2016 OP/IB cohort were a delightfully dedicated group of quiet achievers and the School has every reason to be pleased with their personal best outcomes, particularly given that over 92% of the cohort were either OP or IB Diploma eligible - a remarkable measure of tertiary aspiration.
The Principal, Mr Richard Fairley, joins with teaching staff in congratulating all of our Year 12 students, irrespective of their tertiary or vocational pathways and wishes them well in their future endeavours.
