Mon 18th March
Positive Education was first introduced to the Townsville Grammar School Community in 2013. Since then Townsville Grammar has been recognised as a leading school in the development and implementation of Positive Education as a Pastoral Care framework.
Tonight, Grammar’s Head of Positive Education (HOPE), Mrs Susie Ahern, will be able to give all who attend a snapshot of the Positive Education concept, how it is implemented at Townsville Grammar and the long term goal (to “Thrive”) for all of the Grammar students, and staff, who come into contact with Positive Education as part of their school life.
As a testament to her depth of expertise and study, in 2016 Susie was invited to The Harrow School in Beijing to assist with the implementation of their own Positive Education programme.
For parents able to attend, Susie will also be providing some wonderful tips and advice about “Strength Based Parenting” – an approach that is designed and research by Lea Waters, Ph.D., Head of Positive Psychology at the University of Melbourne. Delightfully though, this parenting approach also just makes good sense!
Positive Education, provides all in the community with a common language and narrative to use in good times and not so good times and aligns with our commitment to Bonus Intra Melior Exi.
