Thu 23rd May
Over three days at the end of June, Townsville Grammar School is hosting its eighth annual Winter Art School for all budding artists in the region aging from 7 through to 77!
Held from 20 to 22 of June, the Winter Art has six experienced visual art teachers providing specialist programmes.
The guest teachers are all respected artists in North Queensland and will be teaching a wide range of artistic skills from impressionist paintings, jewellery, fashion, graffiti to art from the garden. The teachers include Sal Baddock, Jenni Ansic, Sandra Crowe, Selena Smith and MJ Ryan Bennett.
Students of all ages will delight in various art classes including Cosmic Daydreaming, Captured Worlds, Shaving Foam Marbling, Giant Silhouette Portrait Mosaics and Explosive Art.
Artist, Sandra Crowe, has been involved with the programme since its inception in 2009. Sandra studied at West Sussex College of Art and Design in the UK. She has worked as a graphic artist for 13 years before moving to Hong Kong where she studied Chinese brush painting. Sandra has also been a wildlife artist for the Sultan of Oman producing brochures, books and posters, and has had many successful exhibitions, selling internationally. Sandra will be teaching the class of shaving foam marbling – a delightfully messy session involving creating marbled papers that the students will then decorate.
All students, young and old, are expected to come away enriched from the experience of learning from these artists in a fun-filled and creative environment.
