Thu 23rd May
Today at lunchtime, Year 11 students at Townsville Grammar School will be cooking sausages in order to raise funds for the charity of ‘Youth off the Streets’.
Over 40,000 youth under the age of 25 are homeless each night in Australia. A young person who is at risk can have issues of substance and other abuse, alienation from family, school and their community.
‘Youth off the Streets’ is a charity designed to give young people a brighter future – including an education and future job prospects. The charity’s first step is to ensure that young people at risk are living in safe accommodation with drug and alcohol rehabilitation open to all.
As part of their community service, our Year 11 students are holding the Sausage Sizzle and a “TGS as got Talent” quest to fundraise for this very worthy cause.
