Mon 18th March
On Friday the 23rd March, Townsville Grammar School’s Year 3 students will commence a night of adventure and learning at Reef HQ.
The sleepover will bridge in-school and out-of-school STEM learning opportunities and emphasis the work students have completed in their classrooms. Aside from the sheer good fun of a big sleep over with their friends, students will use this opportunity to add to their growing body of research about creatures found on the Great Barrier Reef.
“The excursion has been timed to coincide with students’ classroom study of the Great Barrier Reef. Year 3s will be exploring the Great Barrier Reef which is made up of living and non-living things. We are looking at different components that comprise the reef and specific jobs they do, for example Sea Stars/Starfish clean the reefs, keeping them healthy.” - Ben Malpas, Townsville Grammar School Year 3 Teacher.
In addition to the hands on learning experience, the sleepover will also serve to further students’ social skills, developing greater independence and confidence! A genuine experience of learning and laughing.
