On Wednesday 20 June, the Townsville Grammar School Community Service group will present a cheque for $650 to the Townsville Hospital’s Children’s Ward.
The Community Service group raised the money last week via the Junior School’s Funky Hair Day where students donned crazy hairstyles and sprayed temporary brightly coloured hair spray in their hair for a day. The privilege was bought for just a gold coin donation.
The Children’s Ward was chosen as their charity by the Year 6 students. They all felt that the Hospital could use their enjoyable fundraising day to bring some happiness and comfort to children just like themselves in hospital.
“The students were very keen to help out other children. They thought the money could be used to make sick children’s stays in hospital more comfortable,” Mr Noel Nethery, Head of Junior School said.
The students and Mr Nethery will visit the Hospital on Wednesday at 11:00am to make their donation in person and visit the Children’s Ward to see where their donation will be utilised.
