Thu 23rd May
On Wednesday, the Year 9 Townsville Grammar students will be going to a special dinner to celebrating the end of Middle School.
While a very common term on television emanating from the United States, ‘Middle School’ is still a relatively new concept in Australia. However, this is not true in Townsville! Townsville Grammar School has been offering Middle Schooling for a decade, catering for students from Years 7 to 9, providing an exciting and dynamic experience of schooling for girls and boys in these ‘middle’ ages.
Townsville Grammar’s Middle School Precinct opened eleven years ago in January 2006. Year 7-9 students occupy this special space, designed specifically for their age group, complete with their own Office, Year Level Co-ordinators and facilities. The Year 9 students have been the leaders in this space, with a key responsibility of looking after a Year 7 buddy each for the year.
The Year 8 end of Middle School celebration is an opportunity to celebrate the end of 3 years in the Middle School where they have grown to become independent learners and successful citizens in this new and ever-changing world.
Next year, the students will return as ‘Senior School’ students in Year 10.
