Townsville Grammar students will participating in our annual Mental Health Awareness Week, next week, 4th to 8th September.
Our Mental Health Awareness Week will be launched by our School Psychologist, Ms Charmain Newman, who will address the school at Monday's full School Assembly. Year Level Assemblies will promote this years mantra 'cause we really wanna know, RUOK?' With a focus on our inclusivity, acceptance of difference, mutual respect and thoughtful care and consideration for all members of our community.
According to Kids Help Line (KHL) Australia, mental health account for 22% of all calls made to counselling in QLD; the most significant concern above family relationships at 21%, emotional wellbeing at 18%, suicide related and dating and partnership relationships at 12% (rounding out the top 5 concerns). Bullying sits at 6% behind self-harm at 10% and child abuse and peer concerns at 8%-marginally above education concerns at 4%.
