Sony Camp

On Monday, 24 September Townsville Grammar School’s Sony Foundation Children’s Camp will come to a close with a Family Fun morning and Carnival.

The Camp was introduced to Grammar by the new Principal of Townsville Grammar School, Mr Timothy Kelly. The camp is sponsored by The Sony Foundation.  The aim of the Camp is for senior students from Townsville Grammar School to experience the life and challenges of children with disabilities in their community, with a secondary purpose to support children with a disability to form connections in the wider community.  The Camp also provides much needed respite for the families of these children with disabilities.

Monday sees the children with disabilities preparing to leave their companions of the last few days and head home.

Having been involved in a huge number of activities, quite a few of the children and their companions will be pretty tired by Monday but what a way to leave!

There is a strong possibility also of a helicopter and truck arriving to add to the rides and fun activities. There is even a rumour of a visit from a local celebrity.

Grammar’s Principal, Mr Timothy Kelly said, “As a School we focus on providing opportunities for all of our students and we have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of our own students for this particular opportunity to give back to their community.  For this Sony Foundation Children’s Camp, we know that for all participants – guests, companions and helpers - this will be an incredible growth experience.”
