Townsville Grammar School student, Jessica Stobie, has been awarded a scholarship for the renowned Pacific Honours Ensemble Programme (PHEP) to be held in Seattle, in November this year.
With only four scholarship places on offer each year, the prestigious programme involves intensive days of rehearsals and performances. It will afford Jessica, as one of our Australian student ambassadors, the opportunity to join over 300 American students at Western International Band Clinic and the opportunity to work with six different guest conductors and composers from the USA including: Frank Ticheli, Tim Lautzenheiser, Mike Bankhead, Paula Crider, Alfred Watkins and Peter Boonshaft .
“Jessica is a committed musician and an enthusiastic member of various ensembles at the School including the Townsville Grammar Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Strings Orchestra, Big Band, Senior Choir and Girls’ Vocal Ensemble. She has been a regular and committed participant in the AFCM Winterschool Youth ensemble and other community service projects.” – Samuel Blanch, Director of Music at Townsville Grammar School.
