Interhouse Carnivals

Our Interhouse Carnivals are always a highlight of the school year, full of excitement, team spirit and friendly competition! Students represent their house — Miller, Rowland, Hodges or Whight — in Swimming, Cross Country, the McKimmin Mile and Athletics. Whether you’re racing, cheering or giving it your all, there’s something for everyone as houses battle it out for glory and points.

Selected from the Interhouse Carnivals, these students represent our school in Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics, taking on the best competitors from other schools. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase skill, determination and team spirit while competing at the highest level.

Interschool Sports

Block Sport and Interschool Competitions
Townsville Grammar School offers students a wide range of opportunities to get involved in sport and co-curricular competitions throughout the year.

Block Sport allows students to join teams in sports suited to their age group each term. These teams compete against other schools in Townsville over a thrilling five to six-week period, with games held one afternoon per week. Matches are usually scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school, either in a home-and-away format or at a central venue. On some occasions, Block Sport may also take the form of a Gala Day, where teams compete in a one-day, round-robin style competition. Transport is provided for all events, with weekly games departing from Gate 3, Paxton Street, at 3:30pm and returning around 5:30pm. Gala Day times will be communicated once the draw has been finalised.

Interschool Competitions give students the chance to represent TGS in a variety of exciting events beyond the regular carnivals. These can include Horse Riding, E-Sports, Fencing, Chess, Debating and many more. Students selected for these events demonstrate skill, commitment and school spirit as they compete against other schools, showcasing their talents on a bigger stage.

Whether through weekly games, one-day galas or specialised competitions, these programs provide students with opportunities to challenge themselves, try new activities and proudly represent their school.

2026 Block Sport Term 1 - North Ward

Term 1 Block Sports will commence in Week 4 and conclude in Week 8. Teams will be finalised based on student interest, coach availability and nominations from other schools. Further information will be provided to interested families once details have been confirmed and competition draws have been received.
