The Prep Program sets the foundation for our Grammar approach to teaching and learning.

GETTING READY FOR PREp

The Prep Year is considered the formal start of a child’s learning journey where students come together at the beginning of the school year with a mix of experiences, abilities and natural talents.  The Prep Year is a full time, five days per week program. Children must turn five years of age by 30 June of the year they are enrolled (see below). 

Our Townsville Grammar School Prep Program offers:

  • Early childhood trained Teachers  + Full-time Teacher Aides in each Prep classroom
  • Specialist Teachers for Music, Library, Performing Arts, Physical Education and Languages
  • Small class sizes
  • IT-enabled Prep classrooms
  • Dedicated Prep playgrounds
  • Music Program  +  Sports and Swimming Program
  • Personal development of character strengths through the Pastoral Care program,  ‘Positive Education’
  • Transition to Year 1 Program  +  Upper School Buddy Program

Our Prep classrooms and precincts are learning spaces designed to inspire imagination, creativity, curiosity, investigation, and a great love for discovery and learning.

Starting Prep

What happens after we enrol in Prep?

Following Your Enrolment:

  • Starting School information will be emailed and available online in December (Commencement Pack).
  • You will be invited to attend two Prep Orientations, which are  great opportunities for the whole family to build familiarity with the new environment.


Prep Orientations:

  • Parents and students will be invited to an Orientation Morning in Term 4.
  • Another Orientation will take place the day before School commences in late January.
