Townsville Grammar’s Year 12 students have given up their free time to get crafty, creating gifts of love for Valentine’s Day this week.
Heart shaped cardboard messages, chocolates, balloons, lollipops and roses are all on offer to fundraise for the Seniors’ gift back to the School at the end of the year.
Students from Years 7 to 12 are able to pre-order Valentine’s Day gifts and messages until Tuesday to ensure prompt delivery on Valentine’s Day.
For many students, Valentine’s Day has a broader scale of love and they choose to include friends and teachers to send gifts and messages to express their love, friendship and admiration.
“It’s not just about the romance” Head of Senior School, Mrs Susie Ahern said. “It’s a day for everyone to enjoy each other’s messages of gratitude and love, whether that be for friendship, to your brother or sister or even a teacher that you think is an inspiration.”
The message of friendship has been well received by the students, especially those in the younger grades. “It is a way to involve the whole School, not just the Year 12s”, Mrs Ahern added.
With hand delivered messages costing only $1, students of all ages can get into the loving spirit of Valentine’s Day.
All donations go towards the Year 12 students’ gift to the School from the 2018 Seniors. Previous gifts include a water cooler, new sporting house banners and a large clock.
